Safety of Paracetamol in pregnancy
Categories: Uncategorized
The use of paracetamol has recently been linked to behavioural problems in children.
The Royal Australian College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists has released a statement which states that the lead researcher of this study Dr Stergiakouli has said, “Paracetamol is still considered safe to use during pregnancy. There is a risk of not treating fever or pain during pregnancy, and this should be carefully weighed against any potential harm to the offspring.”
The Statement further says,”There is a significant body of evidence to support the safe use of paracetamol during pregnancy.”
So pregnant women should be reassured that if there was a clinical indication, it is safe to use paracetamol during pregnancy.
