Yes, the majority of the time, your own doctor will deliver your baby.

Will I be talked into a particular birth plan that I don’t want?
No, we support patient choices along with safe obstetric care to make sure mother and baby are healthy. Interventions are only performed if clinically indicated or by patient choice. You are always in charge of your health, guided by our expertise.

What if I want to have a Caesarean, even though it’s not medically necessary?
We always discuss with all patients, the pros and cons of all options, including Elective Caesarean. Ultimately, the decision is up to you however it should be made with the benefit of all the correct information.

Do I need a referral from my GP?
Yes, you will need a referral from your GP to see one of our specialists.

What happens if my baby is premature?
North West Hospital is equipped to provide care for infants born at 33 weeks gestation or later. If your labour commences before that time then our doctors will endeavour to care for you as a private patient at The Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.
